Sean is a Counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property group.  He specializes in procuring patents at the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is adept at all aspects of patent preparation and prosecution having authored over a hundred patent applications.

Early in his career, he has helped Fortune Global 500 companies not only procure patents domestically and abroad but also navigate IP issues such as freedom-to-operate, design-around, or infringement assertion.  As an in-house IP attorney managing the global patent portfolio of a multinational corporation, he has advised business managers on collaboration and joint research agreements, confidentiality agreements, non-compete agreements, and IP due diligence.  As a solo practitioner, he has helped a Silicon Valley startup develop a patent portfolio that led to an eight-figure Series A funding round.  Sean frequently works with a global network of IP attorneys to develop portfolios that also include design patents and trademarks.

Sean received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering. Midway through his undergraduate studies, he took a break to fulfill his military duty and served as a Korean Augmentee at an Eighth U.S. Army base in South Korea.  He is fluent in Korean and French, and is an avid golfer.
