Marissa is an accomplished land use and real estate attorney focused on providing creative and practical legal advice to clients seeking to navigate Lake Tahoe’s unique regulatory environment. She has helped clients obtain entitlements for a wide range of complex projects and plans, from multi-million dollar commercial projects to affordable housing developments. She is also an experienced transactional attorney, having represented companies of all sizes in a wide range of transactions and at various stages of growth. As general counsel and policy director for the League to Save Lake Tahoe (“Keep Tahoe Blue”), she directed the organization’s risk management strategy, negotiated critical partnerships and drafted key agreements, supervised intellectual property law compliance, and advised the executive leadership team on governance and internal controls. Prior to that, Marissa was a member of Cooley LLP’s emerging companies team. She is also the founder of Oceans Forward, a non-profit dedicated to creating a network of scalable marine conservation initiatives that was featured in BBC’s Blue Planet series. Marissa is deeply involved in the South Lake Tahoe community, being an appointed member of the City’s short term economic recovery commission and serving on nonprofit boards and local government committees. She is licensed to practice law in California and Nevada.
