Bryn is an attorney with expertise in state and local tax, nonprofit tax, and wills/trusts/estates. She spent eight years working with Big 4 Accounting Firms, advising clients on state and local tax matters – including income/franchise issues, such as Nexus and Apportionment, reviews of uncertain tax positions (ASC 740), sales/use tax (mitigating Wayfair exposure and pursuing refund claims), audit defense, Mergers & Acquisitions due diligence reviews, Credits & Incentives (WOTC, R&D, California Competes, negotiated incentives, etc.), and resolving tax exposures through Voluntary Disclosure Agreement/Amnesty programs. Bryn also served as the Systemwide Tax & Legislative Coordinator for the California State University (CSU), advising the 23 campuses on Unrelated Business Income Tax, Nonresident Alien Tax, employment tax matters, and regulatory compliance issues. In this role, she was instrumental in preparing the CSU for significant tax reform legislation in the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act (TCJA). In the area of wills/trusts/estates, Bryn has extensive experience reviewing and interpreting trust accounts, having served as a Trust Officer with Wells Fargo in the Investment and Fiduciary Services group. She is available to draft wills and trusts, and advise on philanthropic giving.
